Hi! I'm Lev, a music industry professional turned developer! Since young age; I've lived, studied and worked in several cities in and around Europe as an expat but that journey came to an end nearly five years ago when I moved to Moscow and called it my permanent home.
My education and career path have been in Music and Performing Arts but with the dramatic change these industries had been going through, I no longer enjoyed working in that scene and I left. Ever since I was a child, my biggest hobby has always been to mess around with computers. My first PC was an IBM PC 300 and I grew up using DOS, playing 8-bit games and fooling around with BASIC. Even while working in the music industry, I enjoyed the web and user interfaces so much that I was always the person to create websites and graphical assets for the companies I was working for —even though that wasn't my main job. Needless to say, I helped out a lot of friends with their web presence as well. Taking people's ideas and turning them into reality with web technologies have always inspired me.
After I decided to switch careers, I studied web development like there's no tomorrow. However, the studying never finishes in this field. I constantly keep on learning new things with services like Treehouse, Udemy and CodeSchool and by reading books. I feel that being a disciplined self-regulated learner is crucial.
Nowadays I'm working on progressive web apps and static sites, building my expertise and portfolio.
If you want to work with me in realizing your vision and communicating it to the masses via the power of the web or if you just want to get in touch with me, feel free to send me a DM @levsthings.Other than Twitter, I'm not a big fan of social media but I'm on GitHub.
